Learn to Sail at WLBC

Learn to Sail

Sailing School Information for participants: Information for Participants 2020 – 2021.

Anyone can learn to sail, whether you are 8 or 80 years old. The varieties of boats available mean that people of any age can find one that suits them. During sailing season, sailing lessons will be offered on Saturday mornings at the WLBC. The entry requirements are that you join the club, and are able to swim 20 metres.

It’s a cheap sport; for a few hundred dollars you could join the club, get some suitable clothing and be on the water having the time of your life. We have spare boats, so people don’t need to buy a boat to begin sailing

How can I participate?

Contact Secretary Terry Kirby on 0420 460 209, or come by the club on any Saturday during sailing season to see what we do, introduce yourself and book in. People of any age are welcome to participate. A parent or guardian must accompany dependent children.

What should I bring?
Participants are advised to bring their own lunch, and clothing such as swim-wear, shorts, a long-sleeved shirt and jacket, or any old clothes you don’t mind getting wet. Sunscreen, a hat and a water bottle are also recommended. Life jackets can be provided.

Weather
Sailing will only go ahead if the weather is suitable. We sail within a wind range of 3 to 20 knots.
